Fitness: Core Values
Target your midsection for improved rotation and more powerful drives.
For golfers, core training is about more than building washboard abs; it's about
building rotational strength and flexibility. Conditioned muscles in the midsection
(abdominals and oblique’s), lower back, hips and glutes stabilize the spine
during your turn and help you retain your posture through impact, which increases
power. If your core isn't strong and flexible, you'll compensate with your arms
and shoulders, which can cause injuries in addition to swing flaws. The following
exercises will improve both your swing and your waistline--good news in the festive
season.
